Have you ever wondered…
“Why aren’t more people buying my stuff? I’ve worked really hard and put so much time, money and energy into this thing. AND – it’s really freakin’ good! Why don’t I have more paying customers?”
Maybe, just maybe, it’s because you are talking to the WRONG people.
Today I will cover a simple, yet profound topic that will help you find the ideal people for your ideal product.
Business aha of the week – Right person, right message is the holy grail of marketing
Speaking to the right customers makes a huge difference to your bottomline. You likely have a loose idea who your “ideal client” is, but loose is not enough to get the results you are looking for. Focusing on the right people brings clarity to your marketing efforts and ultimately leads to a more profitable business.
The first step for getting really clear on your ideal client is through revisiting your personal story – and your value — in the marketplace. To do this, consider your past successes and failures, your work history and educational background, the pain and struggles you’ve experienced, the obstacles you’ve overcome and what you are most passionate about. Once you’ve completed this, you can begin to explore your ideal client profile. Get clear on who this person is and you’ll streamline all your marketing efforts by speaking directly to the people you want to reach.
Your ideal clients are the people whose exact needs will be met through your specific offers. The goal is to connect with those that are looking for “you”. They share your values and beliefs. They want or need your product or service, they have the means to buy it and the time to use it. Get them engaged with your product and your story (or brand) so you can easily turn them into repeat customers.
Finding these people is not as difficult as it first seems. Ask yourself a few key questions to narrow down the search: “Where do they live, what influences their buying decisions, where do they hang out online, what do they value, what’s their age group, and what are their common personality traits?”
The more knowledge you have, the more specific you can be with your message. In fact, finding your ideal client is like forming a relationship. Take the time to get to know them. Show them what you have to offer. Discover what you have in common. Don’t be afraid to get really detailed here. It’s the quickest way to see results from your marketing efforts.
More on this is my weekly podcasts – which I hope to have up and running by next week – but no promises 🙂
Inspiration aha of the week – What is Real Freedom? Real freedom is being who you really are, saying what you really feel, and knowing that whatever the outcome you are safe and that you will not only survive, but you will thrive. This can be super scary and not always possible but knowing that you can handle “whatever” happens in all areas of your life is true freedom.
